At MemeForge ("we," "our," or "us"), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our meme generator service at quickmeme.io (the "Service").

Our core principle is simple: your content belongs to you. We've designed MemeForge to minimize data collection and maximize your privacy.

1. Analytics Data (Privacy-Friendly)

We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that doesn't use cookies or track personal information. Vercel collects:

• Page views and visit duration
• Referral sources (where visitors come from)
• Browser type and device information (in aggregate)
• Country-level location (not city or IP address)

2. Local Browser Storage

To enhance your experience, we store certain data locally in your browser:

• Creation History: Thumbnails and settings of your exported memes (stored in IndexedDB)
• AI Usage Count: Number of AI caption suggestions used (to enforce daily limits)
• User Preferences: Theme settings and editor preferences (stored in localStorage)

This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

3. AI Caption Generation

When you use the AI caption suggestion feature, we send:

• The selected meme template (not custom images)
• Template context (for better caption generation)

This request is proxied through the Vercel AI Gateway, which handles authentication and caching before forwarding to our upstream model provider (currently OpenAI). The interaction is subject to Vercel's privacy policy and OpenAI's privacy policy. Custom images you upload are never sent to AI services.

How We Use Information

The limited data we collect is used solely to:

• Improve the Service and fix bugs
• Understand which features are most popular
• Monitor service performance and uptime
• Provide AI caption suggestions (when requested)
• Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

MemeForge integrates with the following third-party services:

• Vercel: Hosting, CDN, analytics, and AI Gateway proxying (see their privacy policy)
• OpenAI (via Vercel AI Gateway): Upstream AI caption generation (see their privacy policy)

We carefully vet all third-party services to ensure they meet our privacy standards.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request information about what data we have (minimal, as explained above)
• Delete: Clear your browser's local storage to remove creation history and preferences
• Opt-Out: Block analytics using browser extensions or privacy tools (Vercel Analytics respects Do Not Track)
• Object: Contact us to object to data processing practices

Since we don't collect personal information or create user accounts, most data is already under your control in your browser.

Data Security

We implement security measures to protect our Service:

• HTTPS encryption for all connections
• Client-side processing (no image uploads)
• Regular security audits and updates
• Limited data collection reduces risk exposure

Children's Privacy

MemeForge is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the information immediately.
